Gw2 Easy Way to Get Ascended Weapons
In Guild Wars 2, you'll probably have exotic rarity gear when you reach the max level, 80. Honestly, even getting a full set of exotic gear can be expensive. But if you really want to bring your game to the next level, you need to upgrade to the next rank: ascended gear. This article details some easy achievements that will reward you with ascended gear if you don't want to craft it yourself. Keep in mind that 'easy' is definitely a relative expression - ascended gear is always a grind in some way or another. But the gear you can get through these achievements doesn't ask for much more than your time investment - as long as you're willing to sink a few hours in, you'll be golden. Plus, your achievement score will go up in the process!
7 Machined Weapons Collection (Ascended Weapon)
- Expansion Needed: Heart of Thorns
- Stats: Selectable
The Machined Weapons Collection is an achievement that asks you to unlock every single Machined Weapon skin. There's one for every weapon in the game, so that's 16 in total. Each weapon has its own item-collection achievement, so you'll need to repeat the process 16 times. Most of it can be worked through in tandem, though, so it's not as bad as it sounds if you know what you're doing.
Basically, start by unlocking the Plated skin for every weapon. Those are purchased from special vendors in Dragon's Stand or obtained by completing the Heart of Maguuma PvP Reward Track. When you unlock the Plated skin, you'll get access to the Machined skin achievement for the same weapon, and you can go from there.
6 Luminate's Backplate (Ascended Backpack)
- Expansion Needed: Heart of Thorns
- Stats: Selectable
You get the Luminate's Backplate collection achievement once you acquire the Auric Backplate. The Auric Backplate is earned through the Auric Weapons collection, which is much easier because there are lots of ways to just happen upon these weapons.
When you're ready to work on the Luminate's Backplate Collection, most of the things you need to get are just earned by actively participating in the Auric Basin meta events, or purchased from the vendors there. Auric Basin is a huge moneymaker for players, so there are still people playing it actively and you shouldn't have trouble finding a group.
5 Relic Collector (Ascended Backpack)
- Expansion Needed: Living World Season 3, Episode 6
- Stats: Selectable
The Relic Collector is a Rare Collections achievement that tasks you with getting a relic for five of the human gods. You get them in Siren's Landing, a map that was added to Orr in the third Living World season. The backpack you receive at the end is the Relic of Abaddon.
Humans worship six gods: Balthazar, Lyssa, Dwayna, Grenth, Melandru, and Kormir. Abaddon used to be one of their gods, but was supplanted by Kormir. Thus, this quest has you running around getting the relics for all the gods except Kormir.
Each Renown Heart in Siren's Landing will sell one of these relics to you once you complete their quest. They each cost 315,000 karma and 200 Orrian Pearls, making the total cost of the set 1,575,000 karma and 1,000 Orrian Pearls. The path to getting this may be a little long, but not complicated.
4 May Her Name Bring A New Dawn (Ascended Weapon)
- Expansion Needed: Path of Fire
- Stats: Grieving (++Power, ++Condition Damage, +Precision, +Ferocity)
May Her Name Bring A New Dawn is an item collection achievement from the Path of Fire expansion that requires you to unlock every Funearary weapon skin. Your reward is a War Cache of the Twin Dynasts, which rewards you with one of any weapon that has a unique skin and the Grieving stats.
The Funearary weapons are purchased for a combination of gold and Elegy Mosaics from the Primeval Steward NPC in the Tomb of the Primeaval Kings in the Desert Highlands. There's a catch, though, because for him to even offer the items to you you need to have completed a different achievement: Triumph of Conquests, which basically asks you to complete a bunch of Legendary Bounties across the Crystal Desert. It's not difficult, since there are often players in the LFG who run around completing Bounties, but it is time-consuming.
3 Primordus Weapons Collection (Ascended Staff)
- Expansion Needed: Living World Season 3, Episode 2
- Stats: Selectable
We're sure that you'll be stunned to learn that, for the Primordus Weapons Collection achievement, you need to collect all the Primordus weapon skins! We couldn't have seen this coming. To unlock the achievement, you need to do one of two things. First, you could complete the Transfer Chaser achievement by helping Seis Burntheart track a bunch of magical disturbances. Or, second, you could buy the Pulsating Destroyer Heart from a Renown Heart Vendor in Ember Bay - Research Assistant Ulaa - for 42,000 karma.
Either way, once you unlock it, you'll spend your time collecting the Primordus weapons. The only way to get one is by crafting it (they don't drop from enemies or anything), but they're not account-bound, so they can also be sold on the Trading Post. As of this writing, each one will run you between 10 and 20 gold if you buy them on the Trading Post. Otherwise, you'll need to be a master Artificer, Weaponsmith, and Huntsman, and buy all the recipes from the respective Master craftsmen, to get them.
2 Lightbringer's, Magister's, & Warmaster's Packs (Ascended Backpacks)
- Expansion Needed: Heart of Thorns
- Stats: Selectable
These three item collection achievements are all named after the associated Ascended Backpacks that they award to players who've completed them. Each backpack is made in the style of one of the three orders of Tyria that are dedicated to fighting the Elder Dragons.
- The Warmaster's Pack: The Vigil
- The Lightbringer's Pack: The Order of Whispers
- The Magister's Pack: The Durmand Priory
Your first step to earning one of the Packs is to finish the Heart of Thorns story with a character who belongs to the order whose backpack you want to unlock. To get all three, you'll need to do the story three times with characters from each order. After that, most of the items in these collection achievements are obtained through map meta events or trading the map currencies with particular vendors.
1 Specialization Collections (Ascended Weapons)
- Expansion Needed: Heart of Thorns and/or Path of Fire and/or End of Dragons
- Stats: Selectable
With every new expansion to Guild Wars 2, the team at ArenaNet has added new specializations for the classes that give them access to new weapons. You get a copy of the weapon as soon as you start training into that specialization, and it'll have a unique name and skin. At the same time, you'll unlock an associated collection achievement that, once finished, rewards you with an Ascended version that has selectable stats.
Honestly, you've probably already gotten part of the way into one or more of these achievements without thinking much about them. You'll get parts for completing the meta events while playing the associated class, or just killing enemies in the region. If you're a fan of a particular specialization (and are using its new weapon), we really recommend these ones. All the weapons available, and the associated classes and specializations, are listed below.
